William Oliver Beasley was born on December 5, 1926, to Aaron A. & Annie Beasley in Covington, Tennessee. He lived in Covington most of his childhood, attending Holmes School for 8 years, then Byars Hall High School for 4 years. While still a senior in high school, he registered for the draft and was called, along with several of his fellow classmates. They asked their high school principal, Mr. A. F. Bridges, to speak with the draft board about their obtaining deferrals so they would be able to graduate. Deferrals were granted, and William and his classmates were able to graduate in May of 1945. William then went on to join the U.S. Army and he attend Basic Training at Camp Blanding, Florida for 17 weeks. As World War II had ended by the time of his graduation from Basic Training, his first assignment was to signal corps Battalion in Yokohama, Japan for one year as a switchboard operator. William was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on December 13, 1946, and returned home to Covington. In the summer of 1948, he met a young lady named Faye Mills. They started dating, they fell in love and were married in Central Christian Church on November 7, 1948. They raised four boys: William Michael, wife is Donna; Phillip Carey (deceased), Sammy Wayne, wife is June; and Keith Alan, wife is Ginger. William and his wife Faye now have 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
William retired in 2003 from being self-employed in a small residential and commercial construction business, Beasley Lumber Company. In 2004 William became a part-time employee of the Charms Candy Company, where he is still employed. In 1979 he was elected as Alderman for District 2 in Covington, where he served 5 consecutive terms (20 years).· During that time he was instrumental in building the Waste Water Treatment Plant, the North and South Fire Station buildings, and the Terminal Building at Covington Airport. In the 1990's he was appointed and served as Vice Mayor of Covington for 6 years.
He and Faye attend Central Christian Church in Covington, where he has been a Deacon for many years.
