William W. Alsbrook enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 16, 1942 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. William was a combat infantryman with heavy machine gun qualification. He served in the pacific with campaigns in: Bismarck Archipelago; New Guinea; Southern Philippines; Luzon, Philippines.

His awards included: Asian-Pacific Service Ribbon with four bronze service stars and one bronze arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars.

He was discharged on October 21, 1945 at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. His highest rank held was sergeant.
