J. B. “Jimmy” Chumley, Sr. enlisted in the U.S. Army and was inducted at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on April 27, 1946. He served with the occupation forces in Japan from November 27, 1946 until August 10, 1947 at the 155th Station Hospital, Yokohama, Japan. Jimmy was separated as a Tech 4 on September 16, 1947. His awards included: the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.
