James L. Bringle

James L. Bringle was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 21, 1944. James was a Tipton County farmer prior to his induction. He married Annie Sue Edwards and they had a son, Elliston Leonard. James entered the service through Fort McPherson, Georgia. He was attached to Company H, 358th infantry regiment with combat duty in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He operated, made repairs to and set up machine guns as well as determining the best tactics and gun positions to employ. He was honorably discharged and separated at Camp Atterbury, Indiana on March 24, 1946. His awards include: the European-Asiatic-Middle East Theater Ribbon with 3 service stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal.

James also had two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Cathryn. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.
