Ronald Dale Boling

U.S. Navy 1986 – 2013
Ronald Dale Boling is a native of Sevierville, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Navy in January 1986 as an undesignated seaman. Following boot camp, he was stationed onboard the USS Norfolk (SSN-714) as a deck seaman. He received approval to become a Hospital Corpsman (HM) striker and was later accepted into HM “A” school. He successfully completed “A” school and then Field Medical Service School. Ron then reported to the Heath Services Support Division, Commander, Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. During his tour in Hawaii, he graduated with honors from the Wayland Baptist University satellite campus with his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration.
On 15 April 1994, Hospital Corpsman Second Class Boling received his commission through the Medical Service Corps In-service Procurement Program. His follow-on assignments comprised tours at five Navy military treatment facilities including U. S. Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the Naval Operational Medicine Institute in Pensacola, Florida. In December 2000, he graduated from the University of Memphis with a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Policy Studies. Ron served the Navy in a variety of executive leadership positions including as Director for Clinical Support Services, Director for Administrations, and as an Acting Executive Officer. His final assignment was as the Officer-in-Charge of the Naval Branch Health Clinic onboard Naval Base San Diego, California.

Commander Boling retired from the Navy in May 2013. For his service to our great nation, he was awarded three Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy Achievement Medals, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, two National Defense Service Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
Following retirement, he accepted a civil service position as the Administrative Officer for the Chief of Staff at the San Diego Veterans Administration (VA) Healthcare System. In March 2016, he returned to Navy Medicine as Deputy Director of the San Diego Area Defense Health Agency Integrated Military Healthcare System.
In January 2021, Ron and his family happily returned to their Tipton County roots and feel blessed to call Munford their home. Heeding the call to continue improving the healthcare experience for his fellow Veterans, he was selected for and currently serves as the Innovation Specialist for the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center in Memphis. He and Sharon, his loving wife of thirty-three years who is a Munford native, are the proud parents of three sons. Ron has been a minister for over twenty-five years and has served in a myriad of church leadership positions. He and his family are currently active members of The Apostolic Church of Millington.
