Cory Norwood
USMCR / ANG
Cory Norwood joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR) for three primary reasons: (1) to serve his country, (2) to carry-on his family tradition of military service, and (3) to assist with paying for his post high school education. After four years in the USMCR, he changed services and enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he continues to serve today.

Since joining the National Guard, Cory has earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice despite deployments around the globe. His deployments have included duty both outside the continental U.S. to Kuwait (2013- 2014), Germany (2019-2022), Bulgaria, and Guatemala and inside the continental U.S. to South Texas.
During his time in the Marine Corps Reserve and the National Guard, Cory has earned numerous awards for his service to our nation. Among those awards are two Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, two Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbons, and an Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M Device.
Cory continues to serve his country and his community as a member of the Covington Police Department. He is married and the proud father of two children. Cory was nominated for Veteran of the Month by his boss, Covington Police Chief Donna Turner.
