William C. Daniel was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 23, 1943. He served in Company A of the 773rd Amphibious Tracked Vehicle Battalion, during battles for the Philippine Islands and the Ryukyus Island chain. His awards included the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, with five bronze battle stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. William landed in Japan the same day the peace accords were signed. William was honorably discharged as a T5 on November 30, 1945.
