A.W. (Woodrow) Curtis, son of Andrew Jackson Curtis and Lottie Eddie T. Curtis, born August 24, 1919, began his entry into active service Oct. 15, 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He served two years, one month and nine days in the US Army. The battles and campaigns were Rhineland: Central Europe. He received EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He received his honorable discharge at Camp Atterbury, Indiana on November 2, 1945.
