Sanford D. Bringle

Sanford D. Bringle was inducted into the U.S Army Air Corps at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on  January 8, 1943. He went to chemical warfare  training  in Siberia, Alabama. He served with the 894th Chemical Company, 3rd Attack Group of the 5th Air Force. His campaigns were new guinea, the western pacific, Bismarck archipelago, the Southern Philippines including Leyte, Mindora and Luzon. He was on Okinawa when peace was declared, then he moved to Japan with the occupation force. Sanford was discharged at Fort McPherson, Georgia on November 20, 1945. His awards included the good conduct medal, ww ii victory medal, philippine liberation medal with one bronze star and the asiatic- pacific service medal with one silver star. His highest rank held was corporal. Sanford married Jane Alexander Bringle; his children were Patsy Bringle Pennington, Sandy Bringle Swanson, and Mike Bringle.
